The exhibition runs from 14 September to 6 October
Open Tuesday-Friday 13-17, Saturday-Sunday 12-16

Göteborgs Konstförening is pleased to present Peter Johansson's exhibition.

I want to be clear about what this is about.

In the exhibition there is a church room with moving machines with sausage-like parts and in the exhibition hall all the walls are papered with sausages.

The installation is based on Peter Johansson's own personal experiences while questioning church culture, hypocrisy and family secrets. The visual appearance and the codes in what we see in the exhibition create uncertainty, the same uncertainty that children can experience in adults' double messages.
It is the same with different cultural phenomena in society.

Peter Johansson was born in 1964 in Sälen, Dalarna and now lives in Malmö.

Peter sees his artistic work as a 35-year research journey through Swedishness and at the same time he processes his comical but also traumatic childhood in 1960s and 70s Dalarna.
With a father who was a kurbit painter and a mother who ran a waffle hut for ski tourists, he has continued to deepen his research into his family and Dalarna myths, falukorv, folk dancing, Dalarna horses and red cottages.

With self-ironic precision, he tests the line between good art and kitsch.

- Above all, I want my art to connect with many people by being personal, physical, direct and visual. Preferably also laughable.
